(Pending Pickup) Penny - $3,000
Penny, 21yo sorrel QH mare. Over at the knee, doesn't bother her. Owned by a farrier, did 4H and games in her younger years, mostly used for trail riding, driving, and teaching kids the last several years. Handy broke but very forgiving. Trail horse deluxe. Excellent starter horse, easy keeper. Farrier was given papers but we can't find them, selling as grade.
Penny has been owned by my farrier for the last 7 years. Very broke to ride and drive, goes single or double. Traffic safe, doesn’t mind kids, dogs, ATVs, tarps, farm animals, etc. Hobbles, ties, leads, loads, stands for vet/farrier (obviously!), bathes, etc. Patient and forgiving. A little rusty in the arena, but will WTC and pick up both leads. Trail horse deluxe, absolute babysitter. Straightforward, uncomplicated ride.
UTD on shots, teeth, and feet. Shod all around since I’ve been using her to help break horses to drive. Goes barefoot just fine on normal terrain. Located in St. Charles, Iowa. Asking $3,000 obo. Special considerations will be made to trail riding or youth/4H homes.
Penny does get a little flirty in the pasture. Not mareish, but can get the excitable geldings worked up. Doesn’t do anything more than nicker at them, doesn’t get tender sided or kicky. Just extra friendly. Towards the bottom of the pecking order. Easy keeper, great feet.
Has a bone spur on front right, and a tight suspensory ligament on her front left, so she rests with her knee over her toe. That leg does straighten out just fine, hasn’t gotten worse in the 7 years she’s been around. Can still do 5 miles in the cart down the pavement and come back just fine. Movement shown in more detail in the video.
