(Sold) Liesel - $5,000
Liesel, 22yo registered Haflinger mare. Owned by farrier. Rides, not fancy broke under saddle but drives the very best, any spot in any hitch. Won't find a horse with a better work ethic, doesn't quit. Forward and here to get the job done. Can sit or go out everyday. Perfect for a beginner driver, but not for a first time horse owner (unless you only want to use her for leadline/companion).
Liesel was purchased as a baby by my farrier, who raised and trained her. His horses are pets, haven’t been over used, but are still expected to behave to the highest standard. Liesel has primarily been a driving horse, has no quit. Will always try to pull more than her share of the load, however, her teammate (gelding) is happy to let her. Broke to all farm machinery but has done more pleasure driving down the road. Exposed to all kinds of tomfoolery, from moving dead cars to skijoring.
Missing a couple teeth, can't chew hay very well. Needs senior feed, beet pulp, or something else soft. UTD on shots, teeth, and feet. Shod all around since I’ve been using her to help break horses to drive. Goes barefoot just fine on normal terrain. Located in St. Charles, Iowa. Asking $5,000 obo.
Clean legs, great feet. Always attends at least one shoeing competition a year, she’s that good with her feet. Leads, ties, hobbles, loads, bathes, clips, etc. Not the most in-your-pocket type, but likes people and attention. Can be a bit of a work-a-holic, will stand still all day, but whoa means whoa and go means go. Has done wagon trains, beginner driving clinics, parades, etc. Is broke to ride, but not fancy broke. Mostly used on the trail, doesn’t neck rein but stops, goes, and steers without fuss. No buck, bolt, or bite, this mare doesn’t believe in messing around. Not mareish. Very bottom of pecking order. Never been bred.
