(Sold) RG Silver On The Sage (Little John) - $11,000
Note: my trailer lost an axle, so I’ve been unable to haul horses as of late while I wait for insurance to finish processing the damage. The day before I went to buy a backup trailer, a horse flipped over on me, resulting in a broken arm. Unfortunately, it is unlikely I will be able to get much additional footage at this time.
RG SILVER ON THE SAGE is a 2015 16hh grulla Morgan gelding. "Little John", or "LJ", has always been handled extensively on the ground from the time he was a weanling, and has several tricks up his sleeve from his Parelli training. LJ was started lightly under saddle as a 3 year old, then had more big country miles put on him as s 4 year old. Unfortunately, due to owner's health, LJ wasn't ever finished. Still green under saddle, LJ is an easy, straightforward ride but needs someone to continue giving him confidence and finish him out. Will back, side pass, etc on the ground, just needs it translated to under saddle.
Rides out just fine in a snaffle or a side pull, will WTC without issue. Stops, steers, and stands. Has done lots of in hand trail obstacles, plenty brave to ride out alone. Not terribly spooky but will "spook, scuttle" or "plant and snort" if something does goose him. NOT for a beginner, this guy is SOFT and doesn't need someone who is going to accidently pop his mouth or slam on his back. BUT he has an awesome foundation and is a blank slate ready to be filled. No baggage, loves people, trusting. Extremely athletic with feet and bone to rival any draft x or light draft. Loads, ties, great for farrier, will come get you to mount.
Asking $11,000 or best offer, which may increase with training. However, special considerations will be made for a Morgan enthusiast or performance home. Located in Bondurant, Iowa. Call/text Christy Deaton at 309-507-1885 to chat or schedule a time to meet this cool dude!
Like any horse, would benefit from a consistent program but there's not a mean bone in his body. I jumped on him for the first time in months and he didn't offer to buck, bolt, etc. Lost some weight from being shipped from Montana to Iowa, and from being back in work, but he's maintaining on grass hay just fine. Big, open, floaty gaits. Would make a tremendous dressage prospect or be able to cover some serious ground on the ranch. Located in Iowa, asking lowest of fives.
