(Sold) Panda - $5,000
Panda is an ~10 year old grade sorrel gelding with plenty of chrome! Short and stout, stands about 14.2 or 14.3 hands, weighs 1100lbs. Superb trail horse, leads, follows, goes alone or in a group. A little rusty in the arena but will WTC and pick up his leads. Quiet and laid back, hauls great, neck reins, good ground manners. Out of practice but will pivot, side pass, bend, etc if asked. Did great around cattle but I don't think he's been roped off of. Fine with traffic, rides quiet down the 55 mph road and into town. Having the cutest darned face doesn't hurt either!
Easy to get along with. Probably not the quickest or handiest horse you’ll ever meet, but solid and straightforward. Would make a fun little 4H or open show type horse, pretty willing to try whatever you throw at him.
Bathes, hobbles, will pony another horse, ties overnight, comes to grain. Goes out alone or in a group, hauls great, backs out of a trailer, rides the same whether your at home or somewhere new. Barefoot with good feet, bottom of pecking order, easy keeper, good with mares and geldings. Had him adjusted to help with flexing /bending and just about everything was out, so probably would benefit from some continued chiropractic care until everything gets lined back up and stays where it should. Never showed signs of being cinchy or saddle sore, but probably keep him happier in the long run.
Not much bothers him, might take a look at something out of the ordinary but doesn’t have a hard spook - no scuttle, spin, bolt, etc. Extremely sensible about reasoning through new things. Grandparent approved, beginner safe on the trail, pretty out of shape in the arena so would be more suited to an intermediate or advanced beginner rider (if you're wanting to go much faster than a walk). Lacks the conditioning/training to carry himself, stay nicely balanced in circles, etc. Will do little things like ask to stop in the middle of the arena or lean a bit towards the gate - nothing rank, just clearly out of practice.
UTD on all cares, shots, Coggins, teeth, etc.
Located in Bondurant, Iowa. Currently listed at $5,000, subject to increase with training.
