(Sold) Chip - $2,000

Chip is s grade 18 yo 12.3hh pony. Liver chestnut with a pretty flaxen mane and tail. Broke to ride with a good handle. My main WT/first time lesson pony. Great on the trail, will hop small ditches/creeks but crosses water just fine. Good ground manners, great for farrier, ties, loads, hobbles, etc. Will try to stop and eat on occasion - he is a pony but not dirty or mean. Very forgiving of kicking/pulling kids. Stays broke with time off. Big enough for an adult to hop on.

Can get cranky about loping small circles and will kick/squeal at horses he doesn't know. So as much as I like using him for small kiddos, he'd need a handy rider if he were ever to brave the warmup ring at a 4H show. I have zero problem tossing my own kid on him and turning them loose to ride around the farm - Chip isn't rank and won't let a kid talk him into anything too stupid. Will trot/canter out in a field or with a group on a trail without getting fresh. Very smooth trot.

Chip is perfect for teaching little ones to steer, giving pony rides, etc. He’s been to schools, libraries, and parades, totally fine with groups of screaming/excited kids rushing him. Traffic safe, fine with tractors, ATVs, farm equipment, dogs, etc.

Sound with good hard black feet. I give him Equiox because he's older and nice to my students. Middle of pecking order. Gets along with mares and geldings. Easy keeper, doesn't founder at the mention of grass but you don't have to feed him up, either.

UTD on teeth, shots, Coggins, feet, etc. Located in St. Charles Iowa. Open to offers.
